Grade 12 Domestic, Regional and International Tourism

Tourism practice questions and a worked example

Grade 12 Tourism questions on domestic, regional and international tourism are built around current events, such as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and visitor statistics. You explain why an event counts as a global event and how it affects a host country's economy, and you read a graph of visitors to the Kruger National Park. Practise linking each event to its effect on tourism.

Worked example

9.1.1 Give ONE reason why the extract refers to a continent and not to a single country.

Answer

The extract refers to a continent because the 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by three countries on the same continent (North America), not a single country.

Common mistakes

  • On the Kruger National Park graph questions, learners often read the wrong bar (confusing the international-visitors graph with the domestic-visitors graph, or picking the highest bar when the question asks for the lowest). On "why is this a global event" questions, a vague answer like "many people watch it" misses the real memo's specific markers — multiple co-hosting nations, worldwide broadcast reach, and the number of competing nations/teams.
