ReClass (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you access or use the ReClass platform.
By using ReClass, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of ReClass — members, schools, sellers, and administrators — whether browsing the public marketplace or using a registered account.
Information We Collect
Account & School Information
- • Name, email address, and phone number
- • School and role (member, school administrator, seller)
- • Verification details used to confirm a member's or school's affiliation with a listed institution
Listings and Marketplace Activity
- • Listing details and photos you upload for items you sell or donate
- • Orders, cart activity, requests, and donation interests
- • Reports you submit about listings, and reports submitted about your listings
Payment & Payout Information
Payments are processed by our payment gateway, PayFast.
- • ReClass never receives or stores your card number, CVV, or full card details — these are handled entirely by our PCI-compliant payment gateway
- • Sellers requesting a payout provide banking details and a proof-of-banking document, used solely to pay out wallet earnings
- • Order, refund, and wallet transaction history is retained for accounting and dispute-resolution purposes
Login & Device Information
- • Single sign-on tokens — single-use, time-limited links sent to your email to sign you in without a password
- • Push notification subscriptions, if you opt in to receive notifications on your device
- • IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and performance purposes
- • If you start a learning activity before creating an account: a cookie that identifies your browser, a fingerprint of your browser's settings, and a hashed form of your IP address. We use these only to apply the free usage limits, and neither the fingerprint nor the address can be read back
Error & Crash Reports
In production, we use Sentry to automatically capture technical error reports (such as stack traces and the request that triggered an error) so we can diagnose and fix bugs. These reports are used only for troubleshooting.
How We Use Information
We use collected information to:
- • Operate the marketplace: listings, orders, payments, refunds, and payouts
- • Verify that members and schools are genuinely affiliated with the institutions they claim
- • Authenticate and secure your account
- • Review reports and moderate listings that breach our Community Guidelines
- • Send order, payment, and account notifications by email and, if enabled, push notification
- • Improve platform performance and usability
- • Comply with legal, tax, and regulatory obligations
We do not sell personal information.
Sharing of Information
We share information only where necessary to run ReClass:
- • With PayFast, to process payments and payouts
- • With our hosting, email delivery, and error monitoring (Sentry) providers, under confidentiality obligations, to operate the platform
- • With the other party to a transaction (e.g. a buyer and seller can see each other's name and collection details needed to complete an order)
- • Where required by law or legal process
We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
Admin Access
For support and troubleshooting purposes, ReClass administrators can view the platform as a specific user ("impersonation") — for example, to help resolve an issue with an order or listing. This access is restricted to authorised administrators and is used strictly for support purposes.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to:
- • Provide platform services
- • Meet tax, accounting, and legal record-keeping requirements for transactions and payouts
- • Maintain platform integrity and resolve disputes
Single sign-on tokens are automatically deleted after 7 days regardless of use.
If you use ReClass without an account, the browser fingerprint and hashed IP address are deleted after 30 days. A guest session that is never turned into an account is deleted, together with the work done in it, after 12 months without use.
Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including:
- • Encrypted password storage and signed, single-use sign-in links
- • Never storing card numbers — all card payments are handled by PCI-compliant gateways
- • Role-based access controls restricting who can view financial and personal data
While no system is entirely secure, we take appropriate steps to reduce risk.
Where We Store Your Information
Some of your information may be processed or stored outside South Africa by our hosting and infrastructure providers. Where this happens, we require appropriate safeguards to be in place so your information continues to be protected in line with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Your Rights Under POPIA
ReClass processes personal information in accordance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 ("POPIA"). Under POPIA, you may have the right to:
- • Access the personal information we hold about you
- • Request correction of inaccurate information
- • Request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations for completed transactions
- • Withdraw push notification consent at any time

Keep Your Account Safe
Do not share your login details or single sign-on link with anyone.
- • If you set a password, use a strong, unique password — ideally with the help of a password manager — and don't reuse it on other websites
- • Single sign-on links are single-use and time-limited — never forward one to someone else
- • Contact us immediately if you notice any suspicious activity on your account
Tip: ReClass links to third-party sites (such as our payment gateway's checkout pages). Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we don't control — please check them too.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of ReClass constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
