Grade 11 Tourism Sectors

Tourism practice questions and a worked example

Grade 11 Tourism leans hard on the transport and hospitality sectors: airport check-in and boarding procedures, what a Gautrain passenger needs to know, the difference between a luxury cruise liner and a long-distance train like Shosholoza Meyl, and the small print of a car rental agreement (CDW, SCDW, fuel deposits, contract fees). Practice questions here come from a real November exam paper -- reading an airport collage to name the document needed at check-in, working out what a rental company's "fuel deposit" actually covers, and comparing comfort levels between two named train services -- not a generic sector overview.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) with SCDW (Super CDW) -- SCDW costs more upfront but reduces the excess payable after an accident, CDW does the opposite. Learners also often can't distinguish a rental company's "fuel deposit" (refunded if the tank is returned full) from the "contract fee" (a fixed administration charge that is never refunded).
