English practice questions and a worked example

Grade 12 English language questions follow the Section C format of Paper 1, for both Home Language and First Additional Language. You analyse advertisements (for example a jeans advert, a composting campaign and a veld-fire warning) and cartoons (Calvin and Hobbes, Zits and Garfield), then correct errors in a short passage and rewrite sentences. The sentence work covers concord, tense, active and passive voice, direct and reported speech, redundancy, homophones, punctuation, word forms and parts of speech. Each question shows the advert, cartoon or passage it is about, so you can practise one skill at a time.
