Grade 10 Word Processing

Computer Applications Technology practice questions and a worked example

Grade 10 CAT word-processing questions test whether you understand how a word processor works, not just where a button is: when to use Save As instead of Save, what a keyboard shortcut does, how to stop two words splitting across a line, and what went wrong when a find-and-replace changed more than it should have. The practice questions here come from Grade 10 CAT theory papers.

Worked example

3.1 Some icons in Word are easy to figure what they represent, others are not so easy to ‘guess’. Give the name of the feature or property of an icon that can help you to determine what it ‘does’ or represents, and explain how you would access this feature.

Answer & explanation

Tooltip; Rest / hover the mouse pointer on the icon.
1. Icons in Word often have a feature called a 'Tooltip' that provides additional information about the icon's function. 2. To access the Tooltip, you simply rest or hover your mouse pointer over the icon. 3. A small box will appear with text explaining what the icon does, helping you understand its purpose.
